Welcome to The Bee Blog

Hello and welcome to The Bee Blog. Here you will find all of the latest happenings at Melissa Laudick Photography, including sneak peaks of recent sessions, new products and maybe even a glimpse into my personal life. Sit back and enjoy, and be sure to check back regularly. Also, feel free to "add some buzz" by leaving a comment or "spread the pollen" by emailng a post to a friend!

A bit about the bee...I contacted Ashley for a new logo and brand concept. I wanted something whimsical, colorful and fun. So she came up with the idea of a honey bee because Melissa means "honey bee." Very clever! So I'd like to think of this cute little honey bee as the mascot for Melissa Laudick Photography. You'll see him buzzing around here a lot!

Thanks for stopping by,

Melissa

It’s been awhile

….since I’ve photographed a baby girl.  I was having fun with all the pink!  This little girl has her mommy and daddy wrapped around her little finger.  I can’t blame them…check out the sweetness for yourself.  Meet Sofie…

Her daddy plays hockey, so his friends got her this…

Baby toes in a tutu…beats the false teeth and gums!

little bride

About a month ago, Lily and I had our annual photo shoot of her in my wedding dress.  This was the first year that she was old enough to get excited about it, and the fact that we had just watched our wedding video on our wedding anniversary just days before the photo shoot, added to the the excitement. I went way over budget when I bought my wedding dress, but I don’t regret it a bit.  I loved it the first day I tried it on, I felt like a million bucks on my wedding day, and now I get to see my sweet girl in it every year!

early arrival

This little guy wanted to meet his parents a little earlier than planned, he arrived more than 6 weeks before his due date, the week before we had a maternity session scheduled.  Interestingly, the four newborns that I’ve recently taken pictures of were all born on the same day, 2 of them were twins and 2 of them were cousins!  Meet Jasper…

Their home was beautifully decorated and had wonderful paint colors.  Jasper’s room was no exception.  I loved the tree and little saying they had on the wall.

the age when dimples on places other than your face are still cute

I first met these two little boys when they were newborns and interestingly their first names are the same as my son’s first and midddle names. Good taste.  I got to see them again earlier this month and now they are 10 months old.  Their mommy wanted to get some naked baby photos while they were still stationary.

2 new additions / Columbus newborn photographer

Our friends, A.J. and Jaime recently welcomed twins into their family, a girl and a boy (the first boy for both of their families).  I had the pleasure to take pictures of their beautiful family.

And the big sister…aren’t her eyes absolutely breathtaking?

3 boys under 3

This family amazes me…with 3 boys under 3, many 4 legged family members (including dogs, cats, mini goats and donkeys), and a couple of birds, their house is surprisingly calm and relaxed.  I visited last week to meet their newest edition, Max.

a big boy haircut

It was time to clean up around the ears and get rid of the mullet…such a handsome little man.  His first haircut…

The perfect burger for vegetarians

img_8243_2Aren’t they cute! Little hamburger cookies!  I found the Betty Crocker recipe through one of my favorite blogs.  They were very simple and fun to make.  As one of the comments on the BC website mentioned, I used Oreo Fudge Cremes instead of York Peppermint Patties for the middle.  It’s a perfect project for anyone with kids and they are sure to be a hit at your next cook out!

Kim H. - So cute! I'll bet they were a big hit! Should I start calling you bakerella?... Smooch le bebes for me! Love you!

This is what happens

when your grandpa dresses you.

img_7604My dad managed to stuff my entire 2 year old into a 3-6 month onsie!

My parents were watching my kids since our babysitter was on vacation.  Dad got Lily up in the morning and put the clothes on that he thought I laid out for her.  He took her to the park and when they got home mom noticed that Lily was all hunched over as though her shirt wouldn’t allow her stand up straight. When she took the shirt off she discovered it was a 3-6 month size!  We were getting ready for a yard sale so I had a few things laid out, which happens to be what my dad thought was set out for Lily.

I’m attempting to take a picture a day this year (I’ve missed a few here and there), so when mom told me about the outfit I knew I had to stuff Lily back into the shirt and get a picture! We were laughing about it and my mom said, “It almost looks a bit risque, don’t you think?”

chris awls - I laughed out loud reading this...my dad would probably do the same thing.

Kim H. - That is the funniest thing ever. Gotta love Grandpas! And I love that you stuffed her BACK in to it for the photo op. I miss her terribly (and the rest of you, of course!) Hugs!

Is this what 2 looks like?

My days of buying all of those cute little girly outfits may be over.

Kristin - oh, her hair is so long....she is going to be a tomboy?!?

Kim H. - Yep. I think they're over...or at least you'll figure out that the Gymboree and Gap outfits never ever go outside. :) Wal-mart here you come!!! :)
